SUMMARY:Health Care is a Human Right Base Building Canvassing Training
DESCRIPTION:Winning universal health care will require a broad and diverse movement of New Yorkers coming together to demand health care as a human right. How do we build a movement that can win? \nOne-on-one conversations are a critical organizing practice that engages people in real dialogue and invites them to join our collective work. The Campaign for New York Health is preparing teams of volunteer organizers to have one-on-one conversations and collect health care stories in communities across New York. \nAt this training\, we will go over the tools that can help us fight back\, to win the right to health care — and so much more — by organizing in our communities. \nThe first part of the training will review concepts important to organizing and an introduction to the powerful outreach tools the statewide Campaign for NY Health is using. \nFor the second half of the training\, we will hit the streets to practice! \nAfter completing this training\, participants will:\n– Have a basic understanding of the following concepts: base-building\, organizing\, and why one on one conversations and listening are critical step to movement building.\n– feel comfortable using the Health Care Access Survey to have one-on-one healthcare conversations\n– Be ready to lead a canvassing group using the Base Building survey tools! \nThe New York Health Act\, the bill to guarantee health care to all New Yorkers\, passed the NY State Assembly for the third consecutive year in 2017. In 2018\, we plan to #PassNYHealth in the State Senate. Join the fight! \nPlease RSVP at http://www.nyhcampaign.org/hvtraining_20170826

SUMMARY:Citizens' March
DESCRIPTION:Our vision is for a budget that meets everyone’s basic needs\, regardless of their age\, ability\, financial or immigration status — a budget that does not take from our most vulnerable to give tax cuts to the most wealthy. A budget that protects our air & water! \nJoin us to take a stand for a moral budget. A budget that reflects our values. \nRSVP Here: https://actionnetwork.org/events/citizens-march \n* The definition of the word “citizen” is “an inhabitant of a particular town or city”. We chose this name to combat the right-wing rhetoric and help change the narrative around what a Citizen really is. We welcome all concerned members of towns and cities across the Hudson Valley.
